AmeriWater Finds the Perfect Water Purification System Pairing for Popular California Winery
Even the water purification specialists at AmeriWater can be surprised sometimes by how our clients use our high quality water purification systems. “We often get calls about cooling tower filtration system installations in California wine country, but when I was handed the project specs I realized this was a whole different ballgame,” said our Western Regional Sales Manager Steve Durant. “The client was a popular California winery that needed the highest quality water for an expansion of their air compressor cooling system. I knew we had a unique challenge on our hands, but one that we could definitely assist with.”
Project Challenges
One of the biggest challenges facing the client was their ability to re-use as much water in their process as possible. “Water is such a valuable commodity anywhere, but especially in California,” explained Steve. “Our client wanted the ability to keep the water in their system as clean as possible, maximizing their ability to re-use the same water as long as possible while maintaining their high quality product and preventing biofouling buildup on their equipment to a minimum.”
Sized to Perfection
Steve set to the task, first using AmeriWater’s specialized sizing capabilities to find the most efficient system possible. AmeriWater utilizes cooling tower process data such as design, recirculation rate, gallons per minute, design temperature drop, and average summer load percentage to find the perfect cooling tower filter size for the client’s needs.
Perfectly Paired
“We found two systems, the CW230 Dual Tank Design and CW116 Single Tank that would best fit the client’s design and capacity needs. These systems work to eliminate biofouling conditions only using 3 to 5 percent volume via sidestream filtration,” explained Steve. “Our system solution saved this client water, energy and money. AmeriWater’s cooling tower filtration systems are 3 to 5 times smaller than the traditional multimedia filters yet still produce purified water. Even at the smaller size, we’re able to give 0.5 micron efficiency. This smaller size reduces the initial capital cost, minimizes installation cost, and operating expense. We always strive to find the best solution for our clients, even if it’s a unique request such as this project.” It looks like AmeriWater and California wineries are the perfect pairing.
